Honor Marriage by Planting Trees

"It used to be, when people got married in Leelanau County, they'd plant a tree for the bride and the groom in front of their homestead. Many of those trees are still standing today, and are, in fact, champion trees, because they have survived the time of logging in Leelanau County."

In fact, Stanton can take you on a marriage tree tour around Leelanau County if you are interested. He'll point out all of the old, beautiful trees, standing side by side, in front of some of the original farmsteads in Leelanau County.

Terry is cheerleading the way for people to reinstitute this old tradition.

Our Mission

Our group's mission is to motivate you to join us in reinstituting the tradition of planting trees in honor of marriages.

What are marriage trees?

Marriage trees are trees that are planted to commemorate a marriage.

We believe that planting trees is one of the most beneficial and proactive activities that human beings can undertake in order to help clean up the earth.

Marriage trees are for everyone -- newlyweds to older couples; those who have been married for one day, to those who have been married many years. Trees make fantastic gifts because, of course, they KEEP GROWING! Just think of it: You can leave a living legacy that will embody the beauty and strenth of your own marriage - and you can do it with not just any tree, but with a champion tree -- a genetic duplicate of some of the strongest, most glorious trees on the Leelanau Peninsula.

Let trees be the way you honor your relationship. They are a symbol of strength and beauty, just like you and your partner.

Once you buy a set of marriage trees from us, send us a picture and we'll add it to our Marriage Tree Hall of Fame free of charge!
