Meet David Hanawalt

Not Bob the Builder

He's all about marriage trees and a whole lot more.

David Hanawalt has practiced architecture in Leelanau County since 1995. His dedication to environmental issues date back to childhood camping and hiking in the Sierra Nevada and the Rockies with two Stanford biologists for parents. He studied architecture at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation and undergraduate at the College of Environmental Design, University of California Berkeley. David's wife, T, is a schoolteacher at The Pathfinder School in Leelanau County where his twin boys have also attended from preschool through eighth grade. David and Family have lived in Michigan since 1993, the state of his father's childhood and his grandparent's home. A strong believer in creativity and heritage, David foresees the Michigan forests restored this century to presettlement vitality, while providing energy and lumber for sustainable architecture and a better way of life.
